Four Squares

Four Squares

Students review material in teams using a board game. Teams get one square for correctly answering a question. The goal is to get four squares in a row.

Level:  Intermediate

Topic:  Review

Time:  45 minutes

Preparation

  • Prepare 25 review questions.
  • Number each question or sentence (#1-25).
  • Make one copy of the Game Board.
  • Markers – 2 colors

Procedure

1

Divide the class into two groups, and assign a color for each group. Display the Game Board at the front of the room.

2

Decide which group will go first. The first group chooses a number from the game board, listens to the question, and gives an answer.

If the group is correct, then they can fill in the square with their color. If the answer is incorrect, then the team does not get anything.

3

The other group chooses a number from the game board, listens to the question, and gives an answer.

4

Continue alternating until all of the questions have been asked.

5

The task is for the groups to get a block of four squares in a row. The blocks of four can be in a square or in a row. Groups get one point for each block of four. The group with the most points is the winner.

Extended Practice

Give the list of review questions to the students, and have them write the answers.
