Students are grouped in groups of 4-6. Half of the members are speakers, and the other half are drawers.
Give each group a picture. The speakers have to speak in English to describe the picture to the drawers. The drawers cannot see the picture, but they can use English to ask questions for clarification, helping them to draw a more accurate picture.
The group which can draw the most accurate picture will win.
Notes:
This game is suitable for every level of students. You only have to choose the pictures carefully. Choose some simpler pictures for lower level students. Choose more complicated pictures for higher level students. You may decide to teach certain vocabulary related to the picture before starting the game, so that students have the vocabulary they need in the game.
I have used the game with ESL students several times, and all of them had fun expressing themselves in English. I assure you that you can hear a lot of laughter during the game.
