How Often Worksheet I

How Often Worksheet I

Students use adverbs of frequency to answer "How often ..." questions from a worksheet about daily activities.

Level:  Elementary

Topic:  Daily activities

Grammar:  Adverbs of frequency

Time:  15 minutes

  • Make one copy of the Handout for each student in the class.

Write the adverbs of frequency from the Handout on the board in random order and ask the students to put them in order of most often to least often. Elicit answers from the students and provide the correct answer.

Give one copy of the Handout to each student.

Ask the students to look at the Handout and write their answers under the column heading, “Your Answer”.

Students stand up and get a partner. Their task is to ask a question from the Handout. Partners answer the question using an adverb of frequency.

For example:

A:  How often do you eat breakfast in the morning?

B: I usually eat breakfast in the morning.

Students change partners for each question (they should have 7 different partners), and record their partners' names and answers on their handout.

Extended Practice

Randomly select a student’s name in the class and ask a question to the whole class from the handout. All the students look at their handout to find out if they have the answer.

For example:

Teacher:  How often does Yuka eat breakfast in the morning?

Student: Yuka rarely eats breakfast in the morning.
