Question Tags Cards

Students ask and answer questions in a group using question tags. A speaking activity using question tags.

Level:  Intermediate

Grammar:  Question tags

Time:  20 minutes

Conversation Cards

Preparation

  • Make one copy of the Conversation Cards for each group, and cut as indicated.

Procedure

1

Students get into groups of 4 or 5 people.

Give one set of Conversation Cards to each group, and ask the students to put the cards in a pile face down.

Ask the students to take turns taking a card from the pile and making a question using the question tag printed on the card.

The other students in the group answer the question.


For example: Can’t she?

Student A: Lisa can ride a bike, can’t she?

Students B, C, D: Yes, she can.

Monitor to ensure students are using the questions tags properly.

Continue until there are not any cards remaining.
